  • Big Rock Candy Mountain posts a list of the “Top 100 Drinking Songs,” complete with some appropriate mp3s. The list only includes songs that are actually about drinking, not just good songs to drink to, which explains the absence of “Dan Belligerently Shouting ‘El Scorcho’ at People” from the list.
  • Bleedin’ Out is bummed out by the rainy Friday, but we all reap the benefits with five rain-themed songs, including live rarities from Zeppelin, Dylan, The Allmans, and Neko Case. What, no “Reign In Blood?”
  • Quick Before It Melts posts four songs also, featuring a-ha, LCD Soundsystem, and Scissor Sisters, although it’s up to YOU to figure out the pattern this time. (Hint: It’s not “songs that will make you sing along at your desk using a stapler as a microphone.”) (Hint #2: Actually, that is the pattern.)
  • Pretty Girls Make Graves may have a sweet band name, but the extremely likable Canadians are officially calling it quits. Sure, Aerosmith and Bon Jovi pretty much suck now, but at least they’re still together, Canada! Woooo! U-S-A! U-S-A! (The Sky Was Candy)
  • Finally, for our Awesomely Unreadable blog entry of the day, we find the Harlem Shakes, a terrific band from Brooklyn, turning up on the Dutch blog Alankomaat. I don’t know Dutch, but I believe that translates to “Alan Kombat,” which must be some sort of violent video game from The Netherlands.
