Whoopi Goldberg Gets A Sister Act Wax Statue Like A Year Or Two Late

Madame Tussauds just unveiled a new Whoopi Goldberg wax statue, which isn’t particularly newsworthy or outlandish, given her longevity and the precedent they’ve set for wax figure worthiness, but I wasn’t totally expecting Whoopi in her costume from Sister Act:

The figure commemorates Whoopi’s upcoming run in the London West End Theater’s production of the Sister Act musical, so it actually makes sense, but frankly, waxworkers ought to be ashamed that it’s taken them almost 20 years to recognize the seminal cultural impact of one Sister Mary Clarence. She got more punks to say “Hey what’s that music? Let’s go sit in church” than anyone else in her era. Besides maybe this dude.
