SUNDANCE EXTRAS: Music Interview Outtakes

The musicians we sat down with at this year’s Sundance Film Festival simply had so much interesting stuff to stay, it couldn’t all be contained in one video. So here’s the outtakes from our chats with Jason Mraz, Michelle Branch, The Honorary Title and MoZella.

See the rest, after the jump!

C.A.N.T. AT SUNDANCE: Michelle Branch, Jason Mraz, Michael McDonald, Indie Music

The Celebrity Action News Teams caught up with a whole bunch of the musicans performing at this year’s Sundance Film Festivals, including Michelle Branch, Jazon Mraz, The Honorary Title, Eisley, and MoZella, with whom I performed a beautiful interpretive duet of what should have been a Michael McDonald classic. Mrawesome.

C.A.N.T. AT SUNDANCE: We Give Up

When the Celebrity Action News Team traveled across the country to the Sundance Film Festival, we had visions of celebrities doing coke in hot tubs around every corner. Unfortunately, no one bothered to inform us that after the first weekend of the festival, the place is a ghost town and that – despite our previous reservations – a shot of an EX-coke addict (who’s newly sober thanks to Vh1, ironically) Daniel Baldwin is about the best one can hope for that late in the game. We’ve still got a couple more cool videos coming your way, but in the mean time, let’s just wave the white flag, shall we?

C.A.N.T. AT SUNDANCE: Where Have All The Celebrities Gone?

baldwindance.jpgOkay, seriously – this place is now officially about as celebby as an Applebee’s in Des Moines on a Tuesday night. But the Celebrity Action News Team just had another brush with Baldwinism, as we spotted Daniel Baldwin yet again, cigarette in mouth, baby carrier in hand. It’s becoming more and more clear to us that he’s just wandering laps around Main Street to proudly show off his newfound “sober dad” status (though to his credit, he looks SO MUCH better than he was back in his coke-ier, car-thieving days). We thought about photographing him, but again, for whatever reason, just didn’t bother. The Sundance star situation is pretty dire, but come on, we’ve still got a little dignity. Anyway, the celeb snow safari continues…

C.A.N.T. AT SUNDANCE: Homos Away From Home

sundance-banner.jpgAfter a full day here at Sundance, the Celebrity Action News Team has conclusively discovered that the last 2-3 days of the festival is not – I repeat, not – when all those celeb-packed swag parties we read about in UsWeekly are going down. To give you a better idea of the degree to which we’re becoming increasingly star-starved, I practically tackled Daniel Baldwin when he moseyed his way past me on Main Street, smoking a cigarette and carrying a baby (it appeared to be his, and he appeared to be sober).

So when we received an invitation to the Absolut Vodka Queer Lounge’s “Homos Away From Home” Party, at which the star-wattage would be provided by A-list luminaries such as Shar Jackson (K-Fed’s other, less crazy ex), that guy who sang that YouTube song about Shoes, and that bald dude who played Charlotte’s husband on Sex and the City, needless to say we were so psyched to finally get to do some Sundance schmoozing with real live celebrities.

As we piled into the taxi and I found myself uttering the words, “Take me to the Queer Lounge”, to the seemingly intolerant, clearly religious cab driver, I knew that we were in for a legendary Sundance experience. The ride to Main Street took approximately 47 seconds, and cost 15 dollars, presumably after he added on his “Queer Tax”.

Gay Chicken Head was all over the place, and so wily that we couldn’t even get a clear photo of him.

The scene inside was pretty much exactly what you’d imagine a “Homos Away From Home” party might look like. So after about an hour of idly wandering around and asking every non-white woman I encountered, “Are you Shar?”, I reluctantly abandoned my quest to find the elusive spirit of Celebrity, and instead resolved to let my hair down and join the writhing masses of vodka-fueled party monsters. I encountered many wonderful, colorful characters, and finally arrived at the realization that in a less-sexual sense of the phrase, I too am just a homo away from home.

After the jump, more reporting, pictures and video of me showing Shea Hess my sweet, sweet dance moves.

C.A.N.T. IN SUNDANCE: CelebriWii

alex ms

Our travels were long and grueling, but at long last, myself and the rest of the Celebrity Action News Team finally made our way to the independent film promised land of the Sundance Film Festival. We’ve got some great videos and coverage coming up today, tomorrow and through next week, but here’s a quick rundown of our adventure so far.

LL Cool J was on our flight, but he was huge, and had a big scary hood over his head, just like in the “Momma Said Knock You Out” video, so I was too terrified to ask him for a photograph, or an explanation of what the letters in his name stand for.

Moments after our arrival in Park City, we were walking down the streen and passed THE one and only Neil Young. He and his beautiful muttonchops were in too much of a hurry for a photo or interview op, but Crosby Stills Nash and Young are playing a concert tomorrow night, so I still have another chance to get the Awesomest Facebook Photo Ever.

I met Cheryl Hines from Curb Your Enthusiasm outside of the Nintendo Wii Lounge (from where I’m currently writing this dispatch), and she was lovely, and cool enough to take a picture with me (we didn’t have a video camera). We’re now hoping to engage in some stiff Wii competition with a few more famous people, so stay tuned for more photos and videos from that, because we’ll be continuing our coverage of everything Sundance is about – corporate product tie-ins and celebrities!

A few more photos are after the jump!

BWE.tv’s Celebrity Action News Team Goes To Sundance In Search Of The Independent Spirit

I’ve assembled a group of the schmooziest, booziest, dirt-dishing celebrity news reporters I could find, dubbed ourselves the Celebrity Action News Team (or C.A.N.T., for short), and booked us passage to Park City, Utah, where – beginning tomorrow – we’ll be reporting live from the 2008 Sundance Film Festival. But make no mistake, this isn’t just some cushy pleasure cruise to the mountains for skiing and hot-tubbing: it’s a vital mission into the vortex of entertainment industry Indieness, where we’ll be doing some hard-hitting investigative journalism, and reporting back on our quest to locate and capture Hollywood’s elusive Independent Spirit. Though judging by the picture below, it seems that someone else already caught that spirit, and photographed it making out. Either way, we’re still setting up shop in our fortified, heavily-armed compound in the rural Utah woods, from which we’ll be dispatching to you each lurid tale of Jared Leto/Paris Hilton hideousness we have the misfortune of encountering. As you can see, we’re risking life and limb in pursuit of this Celebrity Action News coverage, so do us the favor of staying tuned, won’t you?
