Still, shout out on the Today show! Not too shabby.
DecemberWas 2008 the Best Year Ever? For one year olds and under, definitely. But for the film industry, it’s been a up-and-down rollercoaster of record-breaking smash hits and surprising flops. Resident BWE movie reviewer Doug Benson has taken the time to bring us his scathing and sometimes inspiring “8 Second Reviews” for some of the years most talked about flicks: High School Musical 3, Quantum of Solace, Wall-E, and The Dark Knight. And who doesn’t have 32 seconds to spare for Doug Benson? I definitely do.
Agree or disagree? And don’t forget: If you missed Best Year Ever last week, it will reair on VH1 for the rest of the month! Tonight at 11 PM for example! And tomorrow at 4! Check your local listings.

Tonight, Best Year Ever with Paul F. Tompkins premieres on Vh1 at 9 PM.
But what makes a year the “Best”, per se? Hard to tell. But one thing we CAN all agree on is that the year would have been a heck of a lot worse without the best television show of the new millennium: AMERICAN IDOL. And, more specifically, DAVID COOK.
So what good fortune that the following EXCLUSIVE PREVIEW of tonight’s hour-long special happens to feature both! Yes, David Cook stopped by the BWE studios to tell you why he, David Cook, should be voted as having the Best Year Ever! Listen to his plea, and watch tonight to see if it worked…
Will David Cook win? Or will it be the other hottie of 08: Cloris Leachman? Find out tonight at 9!

Before we get to this amazing video, please read: Best Year Ever with Paul F. Tompkins premieres TONIGHT at 9 PM! This hour long special covers all of the highlights (and not a single lowlight) from 2008’s top entertainment, pop culture and news stories, and features a slew of celebrity cameos. If this glowing NY Post review is any indication (4 stars!), you will want to cancel all plans tonight, shred some Xanax on the kids’ SpeghettiOs, lock the dogs in the garage, throw your cell phones in the toilet, sit back, and just laugh for once, why don’t you?
This morning, we bring you an absolutely delicious sneak peak starring Star Jones’ former lover and current elegant man about town Al Reynolds, who sits down in the most expensive chair our office can afford and tells us about Al Reynolds’ Sexy, Sexy, Sexy Ladies of 2008. You know… we finally understand what Star saw in this guy.
Ladies, this might be NSFW, unless you work at a hose factory. Or an Ice Cold Shower plant. In which case, crank it up!
See this fabulous clip and more tonight, VH1, 9 PM: BEST YEAR EVER!
DecemberIn this exclusive clip from Best Year Ever 2008, step into Rob Huebel’s “Animal Universe” to relive a year’s worth of delusional tv personalities believing they have a kinship with animals just before being swiped at and bitten! You’d think these people might watch a few seconds of Grizzly Man before trying to make out with bears…
Don’t forget to check out Best Year Ever this Friday, December 12 at 9 pm! (Clip is evvvver so slightly NSFW):
DecemberSure, Al Gore may not have “officially” “won” “the” “Presidential Election”, but 2007 more than made up for it in meaningless pity trophies! Check out the following segment that landed on the cutting room floor, reminding the world that not only is Al Gore alive and kicking, but he’s probably sleeping in an Emmy/Oscar sandwich right about now while eating some Arby’s off his Nobel Peace Prize… so take that, undeserving leader of the free world!
DecemberAs part of the big Best Year Ever special that you should spend the whole weekend watching over and over, we sent BWE panelist and #1 Jordin Sparks super-fan Chuck Nice on a mini-vacation/fact-finding mission to sunny Baltimore, Maryland for a live concert performance by last season’s American Idol finalists. The line of screaming teenage fans in homemade “Blake” t-shirts outside of the event center wasn’t exactly the “gritty Baltimore street culture” I was expecting from all those episodes of The Wire, but Chuck conducts a fearless investigation of the AI live experience with all the ruthless tenacity of a hard-drinking detective who’s married to his work. Watch the video to see what happens when Chuck comes face-to-face with his Idols (hey-o!), and as a bonus, what’s happening with Sanjaya’s hair these days! (SPOILER ALERT: not a whole lot)
DecemberAs part of our big Best Year Ever special (on Vh1 at 9pm TONIGHT, people), we sent panelist Doug Benson to Houston, Texas to help us better understand what might motivate an astronaut to throw on an adult diaper and embark upon a cross-country road trip to stalk a fellow space cadet. Here’s what we found out!
