An Interview With Doug Benson, Professional Humoredian

Doug Benson Unbalanced LoadDoug Benson — stand-up comedian, BWE Panelist, Last Comic Standing vet, and proprietor of the I Love Movies podcast, probably my favorite podcast on the ‘Tunes — recently swung by the VH1 offices and answered some questions about his recent comedy exploits and offered his thoughts on the 2009 pop culture year thusfar.

I’ve listed my questions below followed by Doug’s responses, so it’s like we’re talking to one another on the screen right in front of you! Enjoy.

It’s already November — Have you picked out your 10 Best Picture Nominees yet?

No, because most of the award bait films haven’t come out yet. Like OLD DOGS, for one.

What if you were forced to limit your list to just 8?

Like at gunpoint? That would be a weird thing to force somebody to do.

Favorite movie this year that definitely won’t get nominated for anything?

A tie between DRAG ME TO HELL and ZOMBIELAND.

I love movies cdAny recent eight-words-or-less movie reviews you want to get off your chest?

THE BOX – It’s like Deal or No Deal, sans Howie.

What tv shows have you been keeping up with this season?

30 Rock, The Office, Parks and Rec – I only have time for 22 minute bursts of entertainment. I don’t even have time to say “recreation”!

Most pleasant surprise of the tv season? Biggest disappointment?

That Flash Forward hasn’t been canceled yet. And that Flash Forward hasn’t been canceled yet.

BEST DAY EVER: Natasha Leggero Didn’t Know You Were Pregnant, Either

Sure, Kate Gosselin made it clear on Ellen yesterday she is still in denial about how much the TLC show ruined her life. At least she knew when she was with child, unlike the lady on last night’s I Didn’t Know I Was Pregnant. Host Natasha Leggero saddles up to bring you those moments and more on a new episode of Best Day Ever:

BEST DAY EVER: Natasha Leggero Exposes Levi Johnston

America’s favorite domestic abuser Chris Brown dropped his new video for “Transform Ya,” but don’t expect to hear it blasting on 18 Kids and Counting. Apparently the Duggar dad grew up on the set of Footloose. I’m going to just assume they won’t be seeing Levi Johnston’s Playgirl spread in that household, either. Check out all these stories on a new episode of Best Day Ever with Nathasha Leggero:

It was a sexually confusing day for Pat Dixon yesterday thanks to Gossip Girl and Adam Lambert, but nothing the Shark Tank finale and a quick trip to the bowling alley couldn’t solve in this episode of Best Day Ever:

Toddlers & Tiaras Mom Wants You To Facebook Friend Her Future Train Wreck

On today’s Good Morning America, Chris Cuomo lead a discussion about parents who exploit their children for reality show fame. In one corner was a mother recently featured with her daughter on TLC’s Toddlers and Tiaras. In the other corner was some attorney with extensive knowledge in this area who claimed it’s bad for the child or some garbage blah blah blah. Watch as the mother gets the last word on just how not screwed up her daughter really is:

Every little girl loves mud pies and four-wheelers and has a million Facebook fans thanks to her mom’s complete disregard for rational parenting while on national television. It’s normal. Quit digging for a story where there isn’t one.

Also, I think Chris Cuomo deserves the Peabody Award for ‘Excellence in Blatant But Wholeheartedly Deserved Condescending Sarcasm’ for that outro. Way to keep your cool, brother.

Tyra Proves That As Far As Talk Show Hosts Go, She Is A Solid Number Two

Tyra Banks is apparently making television history today by being the first show to broadcast a colonic on the air. I know what you’re thinking: “I could have sworn Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood already did this in the 80’s!” Nope, Tyra is the first. Sorry.

Watch as Tyra becomes a hyperactive ten year old boy when describing what this procedure is exactly. To be fair, “stick a tube in your booty and suck the poo out of you” is a real medical phrase. You may want to put down your Cheesy Blasters before watching this:

History in the making, folks. Tyra has already guaranteed a page in the Guinness Book of World Records. I’m pretty sure The Smithsonian is going to have to dedicate a whole wing for this one… or at least a bathroom, am I right?? High five! Poo!
