Fans of Star Trek: The Next Generation, Patrick Stewart, or just general impressiveness pay attention – here’s Brent Spiner, aka Lt. Commander Data (aka the very-quickly killed doctor from Independence Day) obliging a fan at Emerald Con in Seattle earlier this year by showing off his famous Patrick Stewart impression.
None of this changes the fact that Patrick Stewart has pretty much the best voice ever, but seeing Picard’s voice come out of casually-dressed, regular-eyed Data is (make it) so bizarre (I worked on that Picard pun for 80 minutes):
Remember the Next Generation episode when Data is contacted by his creator and takes over the Enterprise so he can fly it to his home planet, and in the process of taking it over he has to give the computer a bunch of access codes in Picard’s authentic voice? They could’ve just had Brent Spiner do the voice and saved precious minutes of recording and editing!!!
Well, they could’ve.
…Carry on.
