Russell Brand “Arthur” Remake Gets Director; Hollywood Remake Jokes Become That Much More Difficult

“They’re remaking [MOVIE]? What’s Hollywood gonna remake next, [FILL IN THE BLANK]???”

That used to be a joke us humans were able to say. Now, not only will the fill-in-the-blank punchline not be as ridiculous as the movie that’s actually being remade, but there’s also only about three movies left in the history of cinema that haven’t been remade, two of which are 50s newsreels about the rise of Kruschev, and the other one is I Love Trouble. That’s literally it.

Oh, the point of this post? Hollywood’s remaking the Dudley Moore movie Arthur with Russell Brand in the titular role, and they’ve officially found a directorModern Family producer Jason Winer — so the project is moving forward. And Meryl Streep is being considered for the (Oscar-Winning) John Gielgud butler role, because that’s something that should happen.

Will “Hasssthere been a death in your family? This is funny stuff here!” become the “Niyyyyyce!” of Summer 2K10? I’m betting on it! I’m actually flying to Vegas and demanding that they allow me to wager money on that.

Oh, also, I guess I’ll have to update this Photoshop from last year, but no biggie, you know what they say: You can’t make an Arthur without breaking some Arthur-related Photoshops from 2009!
