For the first minute and a half of this video about “Live Avatar Role Playing,” I couldn’t tell if it was a joke or not. These days you can never be too sure:
First, good work to the people who made this. Your dialogue was almost 2.3 billion times better than what James Cameron wrote. However, I am afraid that as we are all laughing at the very idea of people actually dressing up like blue aliens and connecting their fake tails to toilet paper trees… I THINK THERE MAY BE ACTUALLY PEOPLE DOING JUST THAT. How long until we get Avatar theme weddings? Will a lonely high school kid one day grow up to be our first openly Nav’i mayor? I wouldn’t put it past us humans.
Maybe I’m getting ahead of myself, but I just want everyone to be ready for the day this video becomes all too real. As James Cameron swims in his Scrooge McDuck money bank full of gold coins, I hope he realizes this Avatar thing can never be undone. After all, Star Wars came out over 30 years ago, and stuff like this is still happening:
