This weekend, reader Michael E. sent along a link via Twitter to a National Geographic video featuring an orangutan and hound friendship. Sure, we’ve seen these stories thousands of times before, but never before in video. It was at the NatGeo website we discovered a handful of these clips featuring “unlikely friends,” which is jungle code for “Hey, man, thanks for not devouring me.”
We bring you those videos here, and can assure you that each one is worth watching… but particularly this one:
5. The Orangutan and the Hound. Pretty much the cutest video of the bunch. This orangutan is a true animal genius, and has an EQ through the thatched roof. He hugs the dog, shares all his food with him, walks him while tumbling… this video will make you wish you could cradle the internet neath your bosom.
4. The Hippo and the Tortoise. Pretty much the slowest animal pairing of the bunch. Also, if we were to ever make a list of 10 Things Jon Gosselin’s Penis Doesn’t Look Like, a tortoise head would surely be one of them. Yeeee-ikes.
3. The Kitten and the Crow. This video is pretty adorable, but frankly we would suggest watching it mainly for the kitten’s elderly owners, who have a new reason to wake up every morning.
2. The Elephant and the Dog. Yup, it happened.
1. The Lioness and the Oryx. This is an example of an animal turning its dinner into a child. We made this video #1 because it has a traumatic twist ending that you probably won’t easily recover from…
