THANKS FOR THE MEME-ERIES: Make Your Own Album Cover!

ALBUM-COVERS-1.jpg

Band names. A veritable puke basket of letters jumbled around together in a Scrabble bag for a few minutes and then barfed out onto a wide array of unsold merchandise. Coming up with a band name might be the easiest challenge since the TV Guide crossword puzzle. Looking around my office, I see no less than 5,000 possible band names, including but not limited to: Spare Boots; The Dirty Umbrellas; TV on the Beta Machine; Vulture Claw; Nameless Nice Guy With Beard; The Dirty Toilets; Dan… the list could go on for miles.

Which brings us to this latest meme, found via Facebook: Create your own album cover. The rules are below — and you must follow them, as otherwise you are lying to us and most importantly… yourselves:

1 – Go to “wikipedia.” Hit “Random Article”
or click http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random

The first random Wikipedia article you get is the name of your band.

2 – Go to “Random quotations”
or click http://www.quotationspage.com/random.php3
The last four or five words of the very last quote of the page is the title of your first album.

3 – Go to flickr and click on “explore the last seven days”
or click http://www.flickr.com/explore/interesting/7days
Third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.

4 – Use Photoshop/MS Paint or similar to put it all together.

5- Post it in the comments! (Using Imageshack or any photo hoster)

My result is seen above… a little hit record known as “This is Not Difficult” by my Polish inspired Wiki name “Poznan County.” Dan points out that the result is not unlike this Ozzy Osbourne cover, though I find it to be more reminiscent of Gene Hackman’s big finale in The Birdcage. To each their own.

Now get to work.
