At what point does the term “Supergroup” no longer imply any degree of superness? Answer: When the lineup sounds like some crappy musical expansion team:

WENN reports that James Iha, formerly of The Smashing Pumpkins, Taylor Hanson of… Hanson, Cheap Trick’s Bun E. Carlos, and Fountains Of Wayne bassist Adam Schlesinger have formed a band called Tinted Windows that has already recorded a debut album. The band will make its debut at the South by Southwest (SXSW) festival in Austin in March.

“Tinted Windows,” eh? I guess they opted against something a little more evocative, like Screen Doors or Snow Tires or The Lobster Forks.

Although, does it completely wreck my argument that I’m actually dying to hear what this group sounds like? I mean, I’m sure they’re no Damn Yankees, but…
