Look – I know. This video is 3 years old, around the same age as Elmo himself. But it has only now come to my attention, and I feel the need to bring it to those of you not fortunate enough to watch Sesame Street on the daily. It is a video of blind opera singer Andrea Bocelli singing “Time to Say Goodnight” to the tune of his famous operatic single. The words to the song are not what makes it. In fact, they’re almost lazy. (Though “Snorey” is inspired.) What makes this is watching tiny Elmo in his pajamas, falling asleep while a BLIND MAN SINGS HIM A LULLABY. The last 45 seconds will make you want to deliver a Tickle Me Elmo out your V and raise it as your own.
They need to make Andrea Bocelli a permanent fixture in the human Sesame Street cast. I’d love nothing more than to watch him and Gordon throw down.
