Bob Saget And John Stamos Pull A Hugh Jackman And Daniel Craig

bye_bye_sagetRemember a few weeks back when Hugh Jackman and Daniel Craig all but locked up the “Best Improv Stylings Better Than The Actual Stupid Show” Tony ? Well it looks like John Stamos and Bob Saget made a big power move last night to steal the category with some help from Don Rickles. During last night’s performance of Bye Bye Birdie on Broadway, there were some technical difficulties that delayed things for 20 minutes. While most shows force the audience to pretend to read their Playbill for the fifteenth time as they devise a way to appropriately score more booze before the show resumes, Stamos had other plans. According to Entertainment Weekly:

John Stamos appeared in front of a lights-up auditorium to stall for time as technicians worked backstage. Stamos called out to fellow celebs in the audience, including comedian Don Rickles, who shouted out from his seat to rib the former Full House star to get a haircut. “Are they gonna fix it or is this going to be a weekend?” Mr. Warmth added.

Then Stamos cajoled his Full House costar, Bob Saget, who was seated in the row behind Rickles, to come on stage and help him fill the time. Saget cracked a few jokes, speaking through the mic rigged to Stamos’ forehead. “I’m really glad your crotch is not miked.”

It is a bit curious that this happened the night before the show officially opens. If during tonight’s performance the Olsen Twins and The Beach Boys suddenly get on stage to sing “Kokomo,” I’ll be very suspicious. Either way, I’m sure Sal would’ve loved this.
