The trailer for Terry Gilliam’s long awaited film The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus is upon us. And, as expected, it is a CGI-fairy-dump of Escheresque proportions.
We’ve seen the trailer 4 times now, and still can’t quite wrap our tiny brains around what, exactly, this film is about. But here is what we do know:
- Most famously, perhaps, it is Academy Award Winner Heath Ledger’s last film before his death. Because of his passing, Gilliam was forced to bring in other actors to play the same role, including Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell and Jude Law (in an extremely unbecoming ponytail).
- The trailer has elements of Moulin Rouge, Eyes Wide Shut, Candy Land, and a delicious cocktail of both ecstasy tabs and walls painted with LSD.
- Most Importantly: VERNE TROYER IS BACK.
- This movie will either be a smash success… or the next Island of Dr. Moreau…

May we be so lucky. The trailer is after the jump — and we’d love your guesses as far as what the hell it is we’re watching. Click here to check the trailer out in HD (highly recommended for such a visual film.)
