Ah, the Japanese. A country that has no shame in embracing one of the world’s oldest and most majestic domesticated animal: The housecat. Once again, Japan has triumphed in inspired ideas, as a series of popular Cat Cafes have opened up around the country. Not a cafe where you eat cats (insert Korea joke here, amirite?), but a Cafe where, for $10 an hour, you can just, you know, hang around and chat with cats.

Your typical cat cafe customer is a person in their 20s and 30s who don’t have room to have a cat in their own house. In America, Cat Cafes are commonly referred to as a “Pet Store” or “Animal Hospital”, and are almost always free.

But now, for the real question: Do the cats love it?

Clearly.
