When we first heard that Benicio Del Toro would be starring in a movie called Wolfman, we thought “Isn’t he a little young for his first biopic?” Then we realized the movie wasn’t actually about Benny Del T, but rather that he had been geniuosly cast in the horror film’s title role.
Finally, our first peek at Wolfman. Part Thriller, part Sleepy Hollow, and a whole lot — 99 percent? — of Teen Wolf’s 1 and Too, the Wolfman trailer actually makes the movie look pretty damn good. Wolfman is directed by Joe Johnston, the man responsible for the 1995 CGI bloodbath that was Jumanji (“Where The Animals May as Well Have Been Animated”), but the good news is, it seems over the last 14 years Johnson has honed in on some new technologies, as the CGI is world’s better than both Jumanji and similar man/beast trans movie, Ang Lee’s The Hulk, where Lou Ferrigno in an outdoor Hefty bag would have been more realistic.
The film also features an all star cast including Anthony Hopkins, Emily Blunt, Hugo Weaving, music by Danny Elfman, and, wait, seriously, is that Harvey Feirstein there in the beginning? Oh snap, y’all, I do believe this just turned into a “must see.”
