In today’s day and age, nothing clears the celebrity slate faster than a famous person who appears in a tongue-in-cheek, highly self-aware viral video making fun of their own weaknesses. Paris Hilton did it. Zac Efron did it. Opie and The Fonz did it. And we loved them for it.
Today, a new Funny or Die video hit the web, featuring none other than newly single tabloid ghost Lindsay Lohan. Lohan, recently separated from girlfriend Samantha Ronson, has been involved in a very public downward spiral as a result of her broken heart. So it would seem that starring in a mock eHarmony ad would be just the quick fix her career needs.
The video is definitely funny. Whoever wrote it should be commended, and whoever dragged Lohan into the studio deserves a medal. But Lohan… she is hurtin. Her eyes barely leave the cue cards, her voice so thoroughly “in the balls” that, if you close your eyes, you’d swear it was the ghost of Bea Arthur. (UPDATE: She’s still alive.) Instead of laughing, we couldn’t help but shake our heads that 10 years of hard partying could render Disney’s shining star into a Fantasia broomstick with a death wish.
You know what she needs? A stint on The Celebrity Apprentice. (PS When did this post get so serious? It’s just an alkie in a viral vid, Collins!)
