On July 9, 1982*, the good people over at Disney released a science fiction movie so daring, so dazzling, that it has gone on to achieve a bizarrely perverse cult status, replete with fat men in unitards. That movie’s name… was Tron. Now, 26 years later, Disney has announced that they are remaking the film with light, more breathable fabrics, and calling it “Tron 2.0″ or, for you robots, “TR2N”.
But don’t get your ankle length neon panties in a twist just yet, because there is some good news. French techno twosome Daft Punk has signed on to produce the soundtrack for Tron 2.0, turning a movie that would have been just “awesome” into something that will be “ass-exploding in the best possible way.”
Just how good will it be? Our brilliant intern Dave Rothstadt put together this preview clip of Tron as scored by Daft Punk. And as you will see, this movie about possibly gay robot people cannot hit the theaters fast enough:
Funny enough, it turns out that Daft Punk added to ANY movie will automatically make it awesomer! Just take this clip of Short Circuit’s Johnny 5 learning how to dance as proof:
