Joe The Plumber is about as qualified to talk about the media’s portrayal of warfare as I am to talk about any non-Simpsons-related subject, but the following clip of Joe (aka Samuel Wurzelbacher) reporting from Israel about why the media shouldn’t be allowed to report on wars is even more hilariously asinine than it is ironic.
The segment starts sane-ly until around the 1:17 mark, as Joe longs for the days of World War II propaganda newsreels and rips on modern-day journalists for daring to portray the brutality of warfare rather than just stringing together black-and-white footage of smiling sailors dancing onto PT boats while “Over There” plays on a loop (which, honestly, CNN could use a lot more of these days).
