Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is starring in yet another sports-related Disney family comedy entitled The Tooth Fairy, which caught my attention not just because Stephen Merchant co-stars for some reason, but because Johnson’s character sounds awwwwwfully familiar…
Johnson plays a minor league hockey player known for loosening dental work with physical play and is sentenced to serve as the real Tooth Fairy for a week.
Hmm… A professional hockey player whose penchant for knocking out other peoples’ teeth has earned him a tooth-related nickname? What a novel concept from a Disney sports-themed family comedy…
[Team Iceland is] coached by an ex-NHL player named Wolf “The Dentist” Stansson, known for his infamous reputation of smashing teeth out of mouths – including that of his coach – which led to his banishment from the NHL and deportation.
To sum up –
Mighty Ducks 2: Dirty hockey player known for knocking peoples’ teeth out is nicknamed “The Dentist.”
The Tooth Fairy: Dirty hockey player known for knocking peoples’ teeth out is nicknamed “The Tooth Fairy.”
I realize they’re both Disney films, but Mighty Ducks 2 credits Steven Brill as the sole screenwriter, while Tooth Fairy credits Jim Piddock for the Story, with no mention of Mr. Brill for coming up with the concept of a dental-themed nickname for a villainous hockey player.
All I’m saying is, that Steven Brill guy shouldn’t wait until the 2014 film The Dentures-Necessitator to sue the crap out of Disney.
