Kermit The Frog Singing “Needle In The Hay” Officially Kills Childhood Memories

sUICIDE KERMIE.jpgThose of you who have seen The Royal Tenenbaums (and it should be all of you) will remember the fateful scene when Richie, played by Luke Wilson, heads into the bathroom for an innocent beard shave when, the next thing you know, he’s attempted suicide and falls into a pool of his own hair-strewn blood. It was a pivotal scene, made all the more haunting by Wes Anderson’s choice of soundtrack: Elliott Smith’s “Needle In The Hay.”

Well now, some sick genius out there has decided to reenact the entire scene starring the hero of my childhood, Kermit the Frog. Watch as Kermee stares at his own reflection, eyes never blinking, staring into the emptiness of life’s eternal puppetry. The following cover song might be the most depressing music video we’ve ever seen after Eddie Murphy’s “Party All The Time.”

Goodbye, childhood memories. We’ll miss you.

Also, we’ve put the original Luke Wilson scene after the cut for easy comparison. (via Everybody Cares, Everybody Understands)
