The Proper Way To Wrap Your Dead Dog, By Martha Stewart

MARTHA DOG23.jpgMartha Stewart is by far our favorite lady of daytime TV, so it was a sad day to find out that her dog Paw-Paw, a giant ginger chow, passed away last weekend at the age of 12. Now, some of you might remember that that other lady of daytime TV, Oprah Winfrey, also recently dealt with the passing of her dog, which she addressed on her show with a touching tribute that incorporated dogs, Oprah, a hint of Stedman, and many, many dog bonnets. We didn’t think she could be outdone.

Which is why we’d like to congratulate Stewart, our go-to lady for all things etiquettish and classy, for somehow managing to show Oprah who is the boss of over-the-top dog memorials. Today, Martha has posted a touching blog tribute to Paw Paw, replete with photos that feature Lovely-Bonesish first person (dog) captions. For example, this photo, taken the day before Paw Paw passed:

But Martha went above and beyond any fan’s expectations when it came to Paw Paw’s funeral. Because, as is probably the fashion in her native country of Planet Waspycash, Martha decided to elegantly wrap Paw Paw’s body in a white sheet, replete with a beautiful silver gross-grain bow:

I never even realized dogs could pay last respects.

So goodbye Paw-Paw. Heaven will probably not be nearly as beautiful as the Stewart household, and for that, God apologizes.
