After the jump, three reasons why this movie will be awesome, besides the obvious fact that it is called “Beverly Hills Chihuahua” and features fifty chihuahuas in dramatic chihuahua poses:
1 - The tagline, “The Chihuahuas Will Rise Sept 26″ isn’t an expression or a pun at all. It isn’t even attempting to be a pun. It is literally just saying that a certain type of dog will ‘rise.’
2 - The movie features the voices of Andy Garcia, Placido Domingo, George Lopez, Salma Hayek, Edward James Olmos, Paul Rodriguez, Cheech Marin, Piolin and Drew Barrymore. And by “Drew Barrymore,” they mean, John Leguizamo, Antonio Banderas, and Benicio Del Toro on top of each others’ shoulders harmonizing.
3 - I’m guessing Disney had the script for this movie a decade ago but then those Taco Bell chihuahua ads came out and they didn’t want people to confuse their legitimate cinematic artistry with a lame attempt to cash in on a popular ad craze, so they pushed it back eight years until the commercials were absolutely out of the public consciousness.
