Brooklyn-based rapper Jamal Woolard — marginally better-known as “Gravy” — has been pegged to play The Notorious B.I.G. in the upcoming biopic “Notorious“. Upon hearing this news, I looked up Gravy’s Myspace page to learn about the amateur that finally rose to the top after a five-month open audition, and was immediately greeted by a song called “In The Hood,” which I presume is either a parody of 90s gangsta rap or the first rap song ever recorded:
I got fame in my hood
Nothin change in my hood
We can bang in the hood
You ain’t have some respect you gotta gain in the hood
Or you get shot in the hood
I got them things in the hood
I ain’t scared in the hood
I walk around all day with that bling in the hood
Be careful home boy what you say in the hood
Um…yeah.
After the jump, some more reasons why I suddenly understand why it took the studio so long to cast this part:
Gravy’s album with DJ Clue, Who Shot Mayor Goonberg? (”Goon” and “Bloom” share some letters)

Aaaand one of Gravy’s music videos, which kind of resembles a local ad for a car dealership that sells gravy:
I suppose the real question is: can BIGGIE hope to fill GRAVY’S shoes??
Screw “Notorious,” I just want to see a biopic about Gravy. They could call it “Gravy.”
