Ladies and gentlemen, as a blogger and a Jew, it is my proud pleasure to present you with handily the funniest Juno parody circulating on the internet today. Enter Jewno, the story of a young pregnant Jewish girl looking to pawn her matzoh ball to some lucky yentes out there. The visual gags alone are worth a viewing (swap out the burger phone for a bagel-and-lox phone for starters), and Ellen Page‘s yiddish equivalent, played by the charming Anya Garrett, is surprisingly at least as good as the original (if only she could get nominated for a Youtubey.) Written and directed by Daily Show scribe Rob Kutner, the short was created to promote a Purim Party (like Jewish Halloween, but prunier) with a performance by Lewis Black at the 92 Street Y this Saturday.
Enough namedropping for ya? No? Well what if we told you that the video starred noneotherthan one of our favorite character actors ever, the ACTUAL J.K. SIMMONS (who played Juno‘s father in the original flick.) His Crown Heights accents is pitch perf. (For the record, please do not confuse the following video with the well-known Nazi propaganda film, Jewnose.) (On second thought, I’m not even sure that joke was worth it. Thank God this is just a blog.)
(throat clear) Check out the video after the cut.
