BWE SPORTS: The Most Elaborate Prank In Baseball History Not Involving Syringes

When it comes to baseball pranks, there’s the lame shot of some rookie getting sprayed with shaving cream that ends up as B-roll on every Baseball Blooperzzzz annual compilation, and then there’s Phillies pitcher / model husband Brett Myers telling second-year pitcher Kyle Kendrick that he’s been traded to Japan, with the Phillies manager, assistant GM, Kendrick’s agent, Kendrick’s teammates, and the Philadelphia media all earnestly playing along. They even drew up fake legal contracts and a flight itinerary to Japan to really drive the point home, creating a scenario not unlike the movie “The Game,” but with a more pricelessly stonefaced reaction.
