Sometimes, the best things in life make absolutely no sense. Nickelodeon Gak, as an example. Fingerless armwarmers. Fat Albert.
The latest thing to be added to that list are the following ads straight out of Italy circa 2006, for the rarely seen car company Alfa Romeo. In it, a very realistic looking sloth wearing a necktie and a mischievous face leads a pretty blessed life. In the first ad, he is pursued by a variety of ladies and given the royal treatment, gets drunk, goes clubbing, sloth-handles the female species… even though an Alfa Romeo car is never so much as seen. And while there really is no explanation for what goes down in the video, it’s basically impossible to look away.
Our childhood selves wonder if the actor inside is the same little guy who used to portray ALF in the longshots. Those little legs!
Ahead, a compilation of a few of the other Alfa Romeo spots featuring this superstar sloth. Because they make a litttttle more sense (and actually feature a car, imagine), you can find the video after the jump.
Please feel free to explain what it is about this animatronic sloth that makes us love him so. Is it the teeth? The eyes?? It’s the teeth, right?
