Today We’re Gonna Google Like It’s 2001

google2001.JPGGoogle has reintroduced the oldest possible version of itself in honor of its 10th birthday. Not only does it look old, but it IS old. Try googling yourself! You will be searching their index as of January 2001. Many of the links that turn up might not work, but it’s still fun to see what was out there at the time, and how much things have changed in such a relatively short period of time. No YouTube! No images search! Did you have an internet presence back then? I did, just barely…but really, I’m kind of embarrassed to show you this…

Look at me being an ACTOR!

In 2001, I was a part of a grassroots theatre company in New Orleans. We put on a few plays while I lived there. Two of which were staged in a pizza restaurant on Magazine Street, at like midnight, after it closed (the founder of the group, a lovely woman by the name of Amy, worked there). We made our own lights and a working light board (fade in and out!) out of scraps and stuff from Home Depot. It was a classy production.

Look at me! So serious! So deeply involved in the role! Sans makeup! Sigh. I didn’t have a care in the world. I’m just glad they didn’t set up Google 2000. Because surely, this is what you would find:

I have a very dark past.
