Last week there was a gossip item floating around stating that Amy Winehouse has turned to Buddhism to help her overcome her addiction, chanting at night and in the morning. Apparently, she has also been watching a video of Tina Turner doing the Nam Myoho Renge Kyo chant on Larry King Live back in the 90′s (watch from the 2:41 mark – I’d never seen it before, and it’s pretty amazing).
Upon reading this, not only was I once again convinced that Tina Turner is f*cking awesome, but also I was filled with a new hope that Amy is finding her way towards some semblance of stability and healing. But alas, the gossip wheel just keeps on turning, and just days after hearing about her enlightenment, I read that Amy had requested 48 bottles of Jack Daniels for the Bestival music fest in Isle of Wight, England. Maybe the earlier story got it wrong – maybe she wasn’t doing Buddhist chants? Maybe it was more of a sing-song like “48 bottles of Jack on the wall, 48 bottles of Jack, you take one down, and slap a fan, 47 bottles of Jack on the wall…”? Sigh.
Amy, let’s assume BOTH these stories are made up and that in the end, you just need a little boost of confidence. My advice is to do what I always do when I need a little extra push – WATCH THE FOLLOWING VIDEO.
And then watch this one. ADDICTION = SOLVED.
