I told you earlier about P!nk’s new song “So What” and now the music video has been released. I’ve never been a serious fan of P!nk, and don’t own, legally or illegally, any of her music, but I’ve always liked her sarcastic angle on things. If I was 14, I would be completely obsessed with this video. In it, she shows all the things one might do when trying to get revenge or pretend you’re totally FINE after breaking up with someone, even though you’re actually falling apart. (Example, she tries to cut down a tree in anger but it’s too difficult and starts crying on the chainsaw.) Also, you’ll see her doing the Thriller dance nude on a red carpet, setting her hair on fire (that makes two references to Michael Jackson!), and giving urine to some young men to drink as a practical joke. There is, however, in the midst of this slapstick, a shot of jarring realism, because the scenes are intercut with shots of P!nk standing with her actual ex-husband, Carey Hart. Which kind of adds this element of “no really, we’re actually handling this in a freakishly mature way.” It’s so COMPLEX!
