The following Craigslist ad offering a used unicycle struck me as very strangely, deeply poetic (particularly the two lines of less-is-more storytelling), in a sort of half American Beauty / plastic bag way, half “pictures of lonely unicycles always get to me because I used to play Uniracers” way:
Does the unicycle leaning against the door represent the relentless, joyless march of time, and our inevitable yielding of joy without ends in the face of a grim world that simply forces us to eventually abandon our “phases” and “move on”?
Or is it just a unicycle for the low, low price of $35?
I’m gonna say it’s a little of both. Mostly the first thing though.
