I’m starting to understand why so many celebrities turn to drugs and alcohol. Press junkets. It’s a necessary evil in order to promote your film, but to sit with Mr. or Mrs. Fakeyville who either knows nothing about you, OR is desperately trying to pretend that you both have the same level of talent and work experience, and thus should be your BFF for life…wouldn’t it just be SO MUCH easier to field these banal questions by taking a tiny sip off the devil’s teat just before the interview starts?
That being said, the recent Tropic Thunder press interviews with Robert Downey, Jr. have shown just how hard it can be to stay sober in these situations. What are his publicists thinking? It’s like sending Joey back to The Real World house after rehab!
