Scrabulous Replaced By Wordscraper; Triple Word Score Replaced By Circle Of Wowzamadoo

Only two days after the Scrabulous application was pulled from Facebook, the creators of the app have replaced it with a new word game, Wordscraper (alternate titles — Wordyanker, Wordbanger, Wordamadoo, Wordsy McWordserson, Wordmaker But Not Scrabble Whoops Shouldn’t Have Said That):

Wordscraper

The game is basically Scrabulous only juuuuuuust different enough to be annoying. For example, check out my friend’s first move:

Bazzuple Word Score

224 points? What the hell’s going on? Has this game been adjusted for inflation? Or maybe Scrabble has gone the way of pinball machines in the mid-nineties when point totals were suddenly multiplied by a million to appeal to Nirvana-jaded 90s youths?

After the jump, let’s check out the rules of the game and try to make sense of this crap:

Welcome to Wordscraper!

Wordscraper is the COOLEST application on Facebook1. It provides you with TWO amazing games:

Wordscraper Blitz – a fast paced word building competition in real-time!2

Wordscraper Regular – a fantastic tool to build and play YOUR OWN word game within SECONDS!3 Simply click on new game, build your board/rules, and start playing. You can save your creations for future use or, share them with friends.4 Games are turn based and awesome fun!5

Give it a try, you will love it : ) 6

1 – Billy Madison reference?

2 – In real-time? I prefer making one move every three days while at work.

3 - Can my own game be “Scrabble?”

4 – Good thing this game is all about spelling and not comma placement, am I right folks???

5 – Is this geared towards one-year olds? Or just badly translated Japanese (even though the creators aren’t Japanese)? “Win prideful game by taking lucky flight on many turns! Much for awesome everyone!!!”

6 – [In Full House Michelle voice]: But I loved Scrabulous!! (runs upstairs to room)

Maybe I’ll grow to love Wordscraper as I once loved Scrabulous, but I feel like it’ll always have the feeling of settling, like the love will never be the same but I’ll be in too much denial to ever allow myself to accept the truth about how my life was turned out.

Does that sound too dramatic? Guess what — DRAMATIC is worth eight skazillion points.
