The film Rain Main is being adapted into a stage play in London a mere twenty years after it won the Oscar for Best Picture, starring none other than Josh “Publicly Rejecting Hookups” Hartnett:
Hartnett plays the Tom Cruise character in the legit version of 1988 pic “Rain Man,” with Brit thesp Adam Godley (“The Pillowman”) co-starring as the autistic savant played onscreen by Dustin Hoffman.
Film’s story [sic], centered on a road trip taken by a narcissistic car dealer and the autistic older brother he never knew he had, has been updated to the present day.
Who the f*ck needs to see the movie Rain Man again in the year 2008? And what do they mean they’ll “update it to the present day?” Josh Hartnett will learn to love his autistic brother, and also they’ll have cell phones? And instead of “Gotta see Wapner” Raymond will really want to watch “Judge Joe Brown“?
Rain Man’s a charming movie, but if you really haven’t seen it at this point in your life and you’re not like a nine-year-old who can’t afford theater tickets anyway, just Netflix it or catch it on TNT sometime. Did you hear what I said, tourists and British theatergoers? JOSH HARTNETT LEARNS TO LOVE HIS BROTHER EVEN THOUGH HIS BROTHER IS AUTISTIC. Also they count cards in Vegas. And the woman from Hot Shots kisses Dustin Hoffman.
Bam, just saved you a hundred bucks. Or a hundred pounds, which is, what, nine hundred bucks? Either way, you’re welcome.
