Ever since I was six years old at the California State Fair and some scary clown blew into a balloon and in mere seconds twisted it into a fairly accurate-looking wiener dog right before my eyes, I have been awed and delighted by the seemingly magical art of balloon sculpting. Who are these artists of air and rubber, what makes them tick, and how have they honed their unusual craft? We will soon find out, as an intrepid documentary filmmaker finally chose to bring these stories to life in Twisted: A Balloonamentary, which from the trailer below looks AMAZING. I didn’t even realize there was such a thing as balloon twisting competitions or “Balloon entrepreneurs” or “Gospel Balloon Ministers”. Who knows what other balloon-twisting secrets there are to be revealed!
