BWE.tv happened upon a copy of the promo packet for the new Indiana Jones film, and buried amongst the mostly sane 175 pages (!) of .pdf promotional goodness was this plan for a Japanese marketing campaign which caught our eye:
Apparently the city of Osaka is using Indy’s likeness in their initiative to discourage illegal parking — perhaps they’ll also intentionally mis-dub the film to include the line “Illegal Parking… Why did it have to be Illegal Parking…”
Also, note the poster’s airtight thematic tie-ins to the movie: “Find the treasure in yourself! Just say no to illegal parking!” and “A new adventure starts today! An Osaka without traffic violations!” It’s oddly reminiscent of the bank teller in The Simpsons telling Bart “you’ll find that saving for your future is far more thrilling than any roller coaster.” And just as true.
