Tori Spelling Loves Being Gay Icon In Her Own Mind

tori_gayicon.jpgAs a straight guy, I’m admittedly not privy to all the secrets of the inner circles of gay people, but seeing as how I have to read a whole lot of tabloids and celebrity gossip sites each and every day (many of which are written and read by people who very much are gay), I think I would know if anyone had anointed Tori Spelling as a “gay icon”. So you can imagine my confusion when I read this totally apropos-of-nothing news story about Tori’s supposedly deep love affair with the gays:

Gay men, it seems, can’t get enough of Tori Spelling, and she hopes to make them happy in romantic comedy “Kiss the Bride,” her new movie debuting on Friday in major U.S. cities.

“I’m a huge fan of gays,” Spelling told Reuters. “They love me; I love them. They consider me kind of a gay icon, which they’ve labeled me as.”

Who labeled you that, Tori? Who is this gay “They” you speak of? Your gay publicist, who is so desperate for anyone to say anything about your new movie no one’s ever heard of or will see, that he miraculously managed to float a story about how you’re a gay icon all of a sudden? Let’s get real – you’re only an icon to people named Tori who used to be on 90210 and are desperate to still be famous. Stop pandering.
