Did anyone read about the Manhattan pub owner who banned the singing of “Danny Boy” in his bar for the month of March? His reasoning was, the song is extremely sad (it is), the song wasn’t written by an actual Irishman and isn’t as popular in Ireland as it is in the U.S. (also true), and that too many other great traditional Irish songs get ignored on St. Patrick’s Day (fair enough).
On the other hand — what if the song is being sung by Animal, Beaker, and the Swedish Chef? Yeah, that’s what I thought:
