I have made no secret of my love for the New York Post in this blogspace, and their coverage of the Bill Belichick / Patriots cheating scandal has been characteristically top-notch, complete with appropriate unabashed judgement and gut-bustin’ pun headlines. However, today’s “POSTLine” handicapper column is one of the greatest things I’ve ever seen:

Was this a joke by the agate clerks that somehow accidentally got printed? Or does the Post actually feel the need to remind bettors, “The Patriots may be 16 1/2 point favorites, but remember, they cheated against the Jets and probably won’t be cheating in this game, so don’t forget to take that into account.”

Either way, the Post continues its ascent to the title of “greatest printed material in American history.” it’s already left the Times and the Daily News in the dust — better watch out, “Great Gatsby.”
