ICYMI: Lobotomized Girl Scores Third Runner-Up in Miss Teen USA Pageant

This weekend, something truly amazing happened: A video went viral on the internet. Usually, weekends are the time when the internet slaps on a virtual nightcap, plugs in its Strawberry Shortcake nightlight, and takes a quick snooze to ready itself up for the hordes of Evites and animal in pants forwards sent around on Monday mornings. For a video to go viral on a weekend — in August, no less — is pretty unheard of. But when it’s a clip as good as this one, well, you might be less surprised.

I refer, of course, to the clip of Miss South Carolina Lauren Caitlin at the Teen USA pageant, first spotted over at DListed. When asked why she thinks 1/5 of Americans can’t locate America on a map, the Lite Brite that has replaced her brain completely shuts down, and we’re left with this answer. In her defense, she starts out strong (kids really DO need more maps!), and then starts to slip down the slippery slope of the walnut-brained. Perhaps if the question had been “Why can’t you find America on a map”, she could have worded her answer better. Someone should send this girl to The Iraq to teach her a lesson.

Her answer, transcribed:

I personally believe that U.S. Americans are unable to do so because, uhmmm, some people out there in our nation don’t have maps and uh, I believe that our, I, education like such as uh, South Africa, and uh, the Iraq, everywhere like such as, and I believe that they should, uhhh, our education over here in the US should help the US, uh, should help South Africa, it should help the Iraq and the Asian countries so we will be able to build up our future, for us.

Can something actually be so retarded as to be genius? Because this would definitely be one of those things. She may have just crossed a stupidity dimension, and she should be rewarded.
