BWE SPORTS: ESPN Readers More Offended By Gambling Than Dog-Killing

Yesterday, ESPN.com asked Sportsnation the question, “Which accusation is most disturbing to you as a sports fan – Michael Vick’s alleged involvement in dogfighting or Referee Tim Donaghy’s alleged NBA Betting?” I cast my vote for Vick, figuring the results would be 90% Vick, 10% Donaughy, or something, with one obligatory random state like Montana having a 53% Donaughy vote just to make the Sportsnation map goofier. What did I find?

ESPN Sportsnation

HUHHHHHH???????

While I certainly understand the wacky conflict of interest when someone officiating sporting events is also betting on those sporting events, surely the idea of gambling is not more disturbing to people than the idea of forcing dogs to fight each other to the death? Maybe some readers interpreted the “as a sports fan” part as “which is a greater crime within the realm of sports,” but even then, dude, this person (allegedly) KILLED A WHOLE BUNCH OF DOGS. How can 140,000 human beings claim that the argument doesn’t just end there???

That’s it, I’m leaving Sportsnation. I’m moving to Cookietowne. The polls there are delicious.
