A few summers ago, I worked for a man who owned three poorly groomed Hungarian puli dogs. You might recognize the breed by their long, dreaded fur — whenever Westminster rolls around, the well-groomed versions of this dog trot down the catwalk like one of the mops from Fantasia. But when the dogs are left ungroomed, they become living nightmares. A co-worker who was forced to dog-sit the beasts confided in me that every couple of days, she would have to snip the dreads that began to grow over the animals’ anuses, as it prevented them from going to the bathroom. And don’t even get me started on cleaning anal glands, ya’ll.
