Let’s preface this post by saying that while I am technically a paid employee of this beautiful network VH1, the feeling’s expressed in the following post would be the same even if I was unemployed and eating out of the trash, which I also sometimes do.
VH1 is amaaaaaazing! No, for real. While I never bought into the whole Flavor of Love phenomenon, every now and again this beautiful network comes out with something that makes me proud to be a living American. And now, they’ve done it twice: First with the upcoming series, Scott Baio Is 45…and Single, premiereing on July 15, where Scott Baio — a once young and healthy male specimen — tries to figure out why no one wants to be the perma-meat in a Chachi sandwich. He does this by meeting up with ex-girlfriends, a menagerie of crispy-banged blondes who all share one more thing in common — thinking Baio is a creep. We’ll take Bob Loblaw any way we can get him, so kudos to this idea.
But perhaps our favorite upcoming VH1 show is the brilliant AMERICA’S MOST SMARTEST MODEL. The description:
Beauty is a double-edged sword. It seems to be a commonly accepted notion in today’s world that an inverse proportion exists between brains and beauty – the prettier someone is, the less intelligent they are expected to be. And no one has it worse than models. But is this assumption really true? Do smart models exist, or does a life devoted to getting by on one’s looks make a person stupid? Now, VH1 will attempt to answer this burning question in “America’s Most Smartest Model.†Hosted by celebrity fashion expert Mary Alice Stephenson and Emmy Award winner Ben Stein (Ed Note: Yess!!!), this reality competition series brings together fourteen models, (7 men, 7 women) all of whom think they are the perfect combination of beauty and brains. In every episode the ‘himbos’ and ‘bimbos’ will face challenges that put both their overall intelligence and beauty to the test. In the end, only one model will prove that they are more than just another pretty face and take home a $100,000 prize and the coveted title of “America’s Most Smartest Model.â€
This, ladies and gentlemen, is bound to be the greatest show ever. And again — they barely paid me to say that. It’s from the heart.
