While we had our own theories about what the Sanjaya phenomenon actually meant this year on American Idol, the gossipmongers at TMZ have posted this amusing video, in which a spaced-out Sanjaya explains to us, bizarrely, that his real name is Bill Vendall, and that his wacky-haired Idol persona was actually a contructed art installation created as part of a thesis project that was intended to represent the “self-referencing nature of progressive evolution”. Who would have known that the dopey Indian kid with the big grin could have f*cking blown our minds like this? But could someone hurry up and get the guy a reality show already – he’s obviously pretty bored.
