I have never seen Stephen Colbert get flustered before, but it happened last night on The Colbert Report. Jane Fonda was on the show to promote her new movie Georgia Rule, and she was on fire. Jane started the interview by going over, sitting on Stephen’s lap then kissing him. And Stephen Colbert–the man who has embarrassed countless politicians by putting them into awkward situations–just doesn’t seem to know what to do when put in an awkward situation. What followed was one of the most sexually awkward four minutes of television I’ve seen in a while. You just keep waiting for her to end the joke, get off his lap and go into a normal interview… but she never does. My respect for Jane Fonda has skyrocketed. It’s not enough to get me to actually go see Georgia Rule, granted, but still, it’s getting closer…
