Things got heated on The Opie and Anthony Show yesterday, when resident center square Whoopi Goldberg rang in to express her opinions about the Don Imus racism scandal. Opie & Anth argue that Imus was making a joke — albeit an unfunny one — and do their best to define how comedy works. Whoopi wants him fired.

Then, things get heated: O&A bring up the infamous Ted Danson in Blackface scandal — when Sam Malone, Whoopi’s boyfie at the time, arrived at a 1993 Friar’s Club Roast looking like Al Jolson. The moment the Danson incident is brough up, Whoopi freaks and hangs up the phone. It’s kind of hard to take sides on this one: Opie and Anthony can be real a-holes, but Whoopi had to realize they would bring this up, and should have had a response.
