Guess The New York Post Headline: Michael Vick Edition

Michael VickDogfighting enthusiast and alleged quarterback Michael Vick was sentenced to 23 months in prison by notoriously stringent Judge Henry Hudson this morning. This gives the New York Post a solid twelve hours or so to come up with an outstanding (-ly judgmental) pun headline about the Vick story, so in the great tradition of “What Would Jay Say,” let’s gather our collective pun-predicting minds and see if we can out-Post the Post.

A) “BAD DAWG” – Clear, concise, judgmental, and satisfactorily racist. Almost perfect, but it’s probably not a far enough stretch for the sake of pun-making, so it might not be usable.

B) “VICK TO GET DOG-POUNDED FOR 23 MONTHS” – Long and unwieldy, which is nice, plus audacious enough to make you question whether or not the instituation exhibits any qualities that might be mentioned in any definition of the word “journalism”. Might be too informative, though.

C) “SACKED” – The Post occassionally switches things up with a really matter-of-fact single-word headline, but these usually have to be really, really offensive in order to compensate for the lack of pun. I don’t see that happening here.

D) “DEATH ‘ROWS” – Completely esoteric, beautifully racist, supremely non-factual (he’s not on death row nor does he still have cornrows), and gives no information beyond a really strained pun purely for pun’s sake. Currently the odds-on favorite.
