The #1 Reason I’m Happy Youtube Did Not Exist When I Was Little

Watching the following video of a small girl with a camcorder singing a Zac Efron song from High School Musical is like watching a time machine take me back to 1989, like the Ghost of Dorktimes Past. There I would be, small, husky, skin dry and flaky from loneliness, dead granny glasses perches on the edge of my nose with ponytail swinging wildly behind me, singing “Adelaide’s Lament” from Guys & Dolls in front of my bathroom mirror. And you know, maybe at that tender young age, the idea of filming my AMAZING VOCAL CHOPS (not to mention killer high kicks) and posting them on Youtube would have seemed like a fantastic idea. Luckily, the only one who ever saw this mini-productch was my cat Lutzy, who has hated me ever since (though this photo montage might have something to do with it.)

Sadly, the following little girl’s parents clearly realized her unstoppable viral potential, and let her have her way with their camcorder. (She also has a penchant for singing Backstreet Boys covers). And in 2024, when little Tina rewatches these masterpieces while laying in the arms of her best gay boyfriend, she’ll remember why she stopped talking to her parents in the first place. This all being said: She’s fabulous!
