Things We Learned In Last Night’s Heroes

heroes_hollywood.JPG

  • Guess what!?! Claire and West had some more of their cringe-inducing flying scenes in this episode, and this time over the big “Hollywood” sign in Beverly Hills! Maybe next time he could fly her up to the top of the Statue of Liberty and give her a “promise ring” before she yells out, “I’m Queen of the world!”
  • So last week Sylar (or Gabriel or whatever) was stranded, without any powers, in some magical jungle on a remote island in the middle of nowhere, and now he’s just lying in the middle of the road in TJ? I think last night’s episode was trying to tell us that whenever Sylar starts feeling his powers or return (or maybe gets a boner), he hears clocks ticking in the background. Also, if he gets Maya’s “oily tears of death” power, everyone is f*cked.
  • Nathan Petrelli’s kid makes some off-hand comment about not being a big fan of the Jesus beard, so he shaves it and finally gets sober, just like that. Okie-dokie.
  • The sizzling sexual tension between Matt & Mohinder (who will henceforth be referred to as M&M, thanks to our commenter) has grown so thick they’re practically choking on it. When Molly gets nightmares, the men have no choice but stand very close together, each searching the other’s eyes for an invitiation to finally submit to the lustful desires that so clearly exist between them. Also, Parkman’s portly father is the freaky boogeyman guy who’s been somehow haunting Molly’s dreams even though he looks like Santa Claus.
  • Mama Petrelli is like some weird combination of a character from Dallas and the mother from Goonies. Also, I wish she’d stop talking about boning Hiro’s old man.
  • So Micah’s still in New Orleans (which, judging by every actors’ ridiculous Southern accent, is actually West Hollywood) with Uhura and his cousins, both of whom may have powers. The boy his age seems to have the power of being a total jerk-off, and the older girl cousin has…uh…the power of learning how to do stuff she sees on TV?? I’m not really sure what that’s all about. Like, if she watches The Hills, does she instinctively know how to be a spoiled, deluded asshole? Also, when is this show going to cool it with the new characters?
  • Peter and Hiro, the two most compelling characters on the series, didn’t get any screentime this week, presumably to make time for more flying romance over the OC.
  • Did anyone else think the preview of Kristen Bell seemed a little…at the risk of nerd blasphemy here…um, lame?
