ICYMI: Why Blake Lewis Lost Last Night

Yesterday, we had an idea that the final song sung on the American Idol Showdown last night would be pretty sh*tty — a standard “inspirational” ballad along the lines of “A Moment Like This” or “This Is The Night.” But we had no idea how incredibly bad the song and title would end up being: “This is My Now.” Check out this chorus to understand what recycled bullsh*t smells like:

This is my now, and I am breathing in the moment
But I look around
I can’t believe the love I see
My fears behind me, gone are the shadows and doubts
That was then, this is my now.

If only someone could have removed Blake Lewis from his now last night. The song, clearly written for a belter, and dare I say, a lady/Clay Aiken, was bland enough when Jordin “Crocodile Tears” Sparks sang it last night. But Blake, known more for his beatboxing and Legolas-like dance moves, completely butchered it. And it seems to us that maybe the producers should have chosen a song that could have complimented both Jordin AND Blake. When you tune into Jordin winning tonight, please understand that this performance is why. Then turn your TV off and call your loved ones: They’re worried about you.

Thank God we’re so bored with both of the finalists, we don’t care enough to make a big deal about this.
